82 dodge wont start

I try to start my 82 dodge pickup and it wont start when I turn the key to start it it turns over just like it normally would but about half way there it sounds like it dies out but the next second it sounds the same as it did before. Is it the battery or the starter or something else? I hooked it up to jump it to see if that would help at all but it still did the same thing. Now it hasn't been running for about a month with no gas in it so that i could fix the gas tank it wouldn't hold pressure I fixed that then I started it for two days then the third it wouldn't start. It started then puttered out and then it wouldn't start again. I could use some help to get it running before the end of the month thanks.

Guesses from your observations so far: It behaves the same with a jump which can be inconclusive as many jumper cables just don't get a good connection. So far it sounds/seems like a weak battery or possibly connections at either end of both battery cables.
You can get the battery tested but best to do so after charging it off vehicle.
When you can get engine to crank if it doesn't start try to find whether it is lacking fuel or spark to hone in on the problem area,
