I ahve a 99 Ford 150 and the wipers stopped working but I get a clinking sound when I try to turn them on.

Any ice and snow recently that jammed them? May have to just look to see what broke if they were strained by something like that?? Linkage, stripped at arms, motor or a gear inside it??
