tow/haul wiring for 2000 Silverado

I have a 2000 chevy silverado. The last few months the tow/haul light has remained lit on the dash board, even when pushing the button to turn it off. A couple of days ago I took off the boot from the gear shift to the steering column. What I think the problem is, is there is an orange wire connected in the gear shift but not connected anywhere on the column. My problem is I don' t know where that wire is supposed to be connected. If you can tell me where it goes and if it is my problem or not. Thank you.
