Does this have any aftermarket wiring for a trailer involving more than plain lighting? For short while you should be able to take out the fuse for brake/hazard lights to stop the battery drain and save that but this has to get fixed asap of course. If all else seems normal at brake pedal does it pass constant power on thru that switch now? Pretty much it must be right there with the problem?? If the switch works in your hands and not while installed it simply isn't detecting that pedal is fully retracted. That's why I wonder if you can just pull up on the brake pedal. It really shouldn't move UP more than where it sets when not touched. Any recent changes in how the brake pedal feels when braking and how much freeplay before braking is felt?
