The rear red lights just recently began to stay on even after I turn off the engine. I press the brakes and there is no change in the lights. The only way I can turn them off is to pull the fuse. I can start the truck without this fuse but unless I put the fuse back in, I am unable to put the truck in drive. Can someone help me figure out what is going on and how to fix this? If you look at it close, you will likely see the the bracket that the plunger rests against used to have rubber bumper for it to land against. The rubber piece falls off and there is nothing to push the plunger in any more. I just went out to try the penny and it works great. You were right on the mark with the diagnosis and the brake lights are working fine again.
