Drill an oversized hole and install a heli-coil. The kit will tell you what size drill to use.

If you are saying that you drilled right out the edge of the bellhousing, you're pretty much screwed.

It can be difficult if not impossible to drill out the hole by hand to re-center it if you've previously drifted off-center and into the casing. Use a drill press to accurately re-center the hole with a larger bit or take it to the machine shop for them to do it. Then, they or you can then tap it for the threads needed to insert a helicoil. I've also seen this done before... perhaps you can drill the hole cleanly with oversize bit, insert a matching material plug half the thickness of the bellhousing and weld it in place from both sides being sure to get good penetration. Fill the remaining hole with weld material, grind the surface smooth, then re-drill and tap the hole in the required position.
