Just a comment to add: I don't know the exact engineering of this 4X4. Some are undifferentiated (fronts) and really don't like being used at any higher speeds OR if not very slippery.
Out of a couple hundred only have owned two 4X4s both locked the front and were RWD when not engaged and even just wet road they would react with wild symptoms if not put back to two wheel drive. I used the two to plow snow which is slow speed and duh plain 2WD won't push 10 tons of snow! IMO if not in ice, snow, mud or stuck if the vehicle has a choice it should only be in 2WD mode or you probably broke something as said,
