76'ford-f250,keeps shutting off Sign In

hi..i have a 76'-ford-f250,4spd,390,4x4...runs good, but keeps shutting off...driving it,or idling...i was at,35 miles per hr.,it shut off,i tried catching it in gear, but no go,i had to use key to re-start...it shuts off alot...i was wondering if it was the coil,or the module on the left fender?..i will call tomorrow to see if they test them.thank you

If tested while it's working it won't prove anything. Check the connections.

When down can you verify no spark condition?

It's a pill - gotta catch it down and see what's missing, spark or fuel?? Valve timing a maybe but still gotta catch is broke like holiday lights which can frustrate anyone!

hi there...i think it's carb....i have been running it and working with the carb..when it shuts off..i just ligthy push on the diaphram..and it starts right up...i hardly drive the vehicle too...i adjusted fuel/air and kept lightly pushing on the acc., diaphram and it hasn't stalled..right now it's been idling...for a while...definatley the carb...possibly acc valve...power valve...or some dirt..will keep on it,i think i can see a direction....lol..and thank you...you people on here are the best...top of the mornin to ya....bill

If you are pretty sure it's a fuel issue I suggest fuel pressure is the issue now. Should be cheap and easy - fuel filter and pump. I think the pressure should be 5lbs or a touch higher for pressure. No fuel - no go obviously,

hi there..just got back in from test running..it's running real well..never shut off once...in fact it's running real nice...the fuel pump and filter are not that old and the carb is only 1-2 year...when i bought the carb they said it was already adjusted so i just put it on....today i went over everything pretty good and adjusted fuel/air..and it seems to have done it...all i need now is ; CHIP FOOSE from that show..."OVER HAULIN"...and i should be set..then they can build it for me for my farm truck.....lol..thank you again for your help....bill

Just FYI:

New doesn't mean it's perfect! Sucks when new stuff fails screwing up diagnostics!
