2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD--ignition locked up

Today I drove to the store with no problems and when I tried to start the truck up to come back home, the ignition was completely locked up. The key won't move the slightest bit and the steering wheel will not lock at all. I can't figure out what the problem is... today is the first really cold day that we've had in a long time. Could it be weather related? PLEASE, any ideas?
