have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 with V6 4.3 130k miles,--- recently started missing while driving couple weeks ago,--- changed the plugs,---added some STP fuel cleaner --- did usual checks, oil, air filter, lines, electrical connections-- then kind of cleared up,-- better,--- then missing started again,---- now when go to 1st start of the day,-- it turns over fine,-- then hesitates, or slow couple turns, and back to regular rotation turn,-- then coughs and is almost impossible to start,---- will run battery down trying,--- when and if it starts, ---- after it starts and driving some and engine warms up,--- misses a little off and on, but it starts fine after that until next morning when I go to start it again. hope someone can help with this issue thanks

Taker a reading on the fuel pressure and post what you find.

Is the check engine light on?......Either way you might want to get the codes pulled....If there are any stored codes, post them with the fuel pressure reading.....

hey I use to do a little work, mind you little work on trucks in the 80s in the backyard, changing alternators, water pumps, valve gaskets, points, plugs, pretty normal work when there were no electronics, no codes, never acquired the readers, so any suggestions, are very much welcomed, sorry very poor guy here lol

Call around to some parts houses....Some places have loaner programs on gauges like these and while your there they'll pull the codes for you.

On this year and make fuel pressure and more importantly, the correct fuel pressure can be a big problem and something that can't be guessed at.......It's one the 1st things I would be looking at if I was under the hood.....

I guess that means you won't be repairing your own car then.

I see hammer time has responded to this. not questioning him but he had me checking things and basically had me going in circles on my 01 3500 express. a buddy of mine around the corner stopped and said replace the temp censor after telling him the same thing i had posted. on gm's it's the first thing that tell the system how much fuel to deliver. I changed the censor and all was fine till it got real cold out. ended up changing the pigtail as well now all is well and have not had problem for the past two months. it was all from corrosion on the censor and plug end generally they are located right next to the thermostat housing on the motor it's a two wire plug blue and yellow wires
