1994 S-10 Blazer Fuel Pump -- External mount?

Is it possible to install a rail-mounted external fuel pump in place of the in-tank pump on a 1994 S-10 Blazer (6 cyl/4WD/4.3 V6 Vortec/289,000mi)? If possible, would it be as efficient? I've had to replace the fuel pump on my truck 3 times in the last year and it's getting old! Thank you.

That's possible but not recommended. If you replace the entire pump/gauge assembly with OE GM parts you should do better. Don't allow fuel level to get low either as that's a fuel pump killer,
