We just replaced the clutch in my 1989 chevy 1 ton. There is a plug on top of the trans drivers side that melted. I have called autozone and they have no clue. Could you please tell me what the darn thing is so I can replace it. It was a black 2 pin plugin. I have hade to go through the floor (gear shift hole to get to it. Thanking you in advance.......Unsure

It's probably the back up light switch.

Don't know about the color but jumping them across made my back up lights work. I can't seem to find the plug that is like mine anywhere. Maybe the fact it's a Scottsdale made in Canada makes a difference. Thanks for all your help. Will call autozone and see if they can help. Unfortunately we live 50 miles from the nearest Parts store. LOL. Smile

It looks like is screws into the left side of the tailshaft housing.

Nope doesn't screw in. Crazy It has a clip on the side and the two prongs run up and down. Will not worry about the darn color of the switch. Current is 11.5 volts so now all I gotta do is cut the old one off and take it to the parts store. Will go to Chevy if I have to. By the way the wires are Blue and Yellowish green. Now in the process of bleeding the clutch. Oh buy the way the plug is on the top of the trans directly below and in front of the gearshift.Talk about toooo muuuch fun. Thanks again. If you figure out what or where to get one. Pleease let me know...
