i have a 79 ford truck with a 351 rebuilt engine it has about 30,000 miles recently it started acting up it starts and idels great but when put into gear(automatic) it acts like its missing and has hardly any power

Could be about anything.
Make sure choke is working properly for a beginning. It may not be shutting off - somewhat common to have a choke heater problem,
