82 honda cb 450

this 82 honda was givin to me the tank was rusted inside so i c.l.r ed the tank it did a really nice job i then took carbs apart cleaned them also put back together with new air cut off valves fuel pump diaphram now the bike starts right up but wont goover 45-50 mph and the exhoust sounds kinda muffled when riding it much diferent then when in nutural and give it gas it sounds much better also bike is popin a little and at full compleat throtal wile driving it hesitats and wants to bog but every once and a while something happens and it takes off like a bat out of hell any clues on what it could be

Got another pipe that you could toss on it & take it for a ride?

the kerka pipe on it is fine i found out that if i shut the pepcock on gas tank almost to of pisition the bike rides mutch beter think im gettin to much gas to carbs anyone know how to do that?

It sounds like your running too rich (you have too much fuel in your fuel to air mixture) I suggest putting a smaller main jet in your carb.
