vehicle shaking badly at engine

1999 gmc savana 2500 today, vehicle started shaking i drove to nearest auto parts store,
they thought it could of being an electrical problem, changed out rotor and distributor cap.
engine stalled had to tow it home... can anyone help

The two main requirements are fuel and spark. Either (or neither) of which could be the problem. Need to find out which you are lacking. No easy answer. Sorry. The Vortec engines are very 'persnickity' about fuel delivery. And, are one of GM's 'weak points'. Have the fuel pressure checked and make sure that you are getting spark to the plugs.
