My brakes on my 2000 Lincoln Ls spot only stop right away if you pump them once first. we bleed the brakes and they do work after you have just stopped or hit them hard but other then that the go back to the floor the next time. what do we do?

You should NEVER have to bleed brakes that have not been just repaired. There is a problem in the system that needs to be located and repaired. If you are losing brake fluid, find the leak. If you are not losing any fluid, then you probably have a bad Master Cylinder but could be a problem with the ABS unit.

To add to HT; Could be that the rear disc brake calipers are not adjusting properly. Try setting the emergency brake and pumping the pedal a few times. The rear calipers have a ratching device that can fail.
