In fact it was designed to handle on and off road. Here in Texas the types of trucks are commonly used off road. As far as the brush gaurd, if you are capable of making one of these yourself then it will work fine. If you hit something the gaurd will bend way before the frame receives any damage. By the way how did the bumper replacement work out?
