Hi I just got a 2008 subaru 2.5i .... it needs an air filter and 4 new tires... I need to save money and was wondering if i could buy and/or change the air filter myself? What is the best brand and model for me to buy of air filter the prices really range.... Also the tire size is P205/50R17.... should I go through a mechanic for tires or go to a tire shop?

You can buy and replace the air filter yourself. As for the tires, price them and see what the mileage rating is on the tires. (30,000--50,000, 70,000 etc.) Then have them installed. Some of the dealers around here actually offer a price as good as a discount tire shop. Good luck.
