I must have hit a rock on our dirt road because the transmission is leaking. The transmission shop says the case may be able to be welded, or it may require a new one. My husband noticed it leaked maybe a cup of fluid in 24 hours. Drives just fine as usual. My question is why does the transmission need to be overhauled, (at $25K) in addition to replacing or welding the case? 2005 Suzuki Aerio. The dealer no longer sells or services Suzuki, nor does anyone else within an hour's drive.

itmaybesaid; $25K? You've got to be kidding! $2500.00 may be more like it if the trans. housing is broken. As new of a vehicle as it is, I'd think that you could find a low mileage used transmission for a fraction of that. So what if you have to drive two hours...or more...to save $1000.00. If someone really did quote you $25K, I wouldn't walk away, I'd run. Very fast.
