Hi All! Anyone?

Purchased a 2007 Saturn Ion 3 with 20 miles on it. Took it for a long test ride(10 min) all seemed well. Purchased. Drove around city approx. 15 minutes, maybe 20 and loud thumping noise in undercarriage started. I felt the thump under my seat, then it moved to between the two front seats and then under passager seat,. thumping went on for 10 miles while we were now on the interstate. Speed was stable 65mpg, no turns. Silence for 5 miles almost as if nothing had occurred then loud thumping randomly under car. Again for 8-10 miles then silence for 5 or so miles and back at it. I pulled over several times at rest stops and looked under car- can't imagine what it is?? I did fast circles to see if it was the wheels-no sounds coming from wheels. It appears to be loud thumping in random spots upper undercarriage while both city and interstate driving- either 25mpg or 65 mpg. Any ideas?

I am taking the car back tomorrow and demanding an exchange, I am told they have a 30 day 1500 mile exchange program. I hope I can work this out:( But I would still like to know, whats wrong?

I'll bet a motor or trans mount isn't tight. If just that simple you may want to keep the car but if something is wrong from shipping it or whatever with that exchange deal I'd take another car. Man I'd catch on fire If I ever bought a new car ( and haven't) and something like that happened,

Thank you! I know about being mad. This is our 3rd new saturn since 2004, the other two were what you'd expect from a brand new car. New, nothing wrong, all worked great. This experience has just floored us, neither my husband or I could sleep last night, and car dealerships don't do business on Sundays in WI. So you can imagine how mad we feel, esp,.since we purchased this car at the end of business Saturday and by the time the problems hit- the dealership was closed. I am praying hard this can still work out.:) Thank you for a quick response. I will post back tomorrow what comes out of it.
