Subject: RE: Acura Integra ABS brake sys. IP: Logged Message: Hi, Is it common for the ABS brake light to come on and stay on when there isn't a major problem? I have gotten conflicting info from different sources and not sure where to turn. The brakes have been checked by a local mechnic who says they are fine. Dealer says there are more than 1 thing wrong with the brake system. The mechnic says I don't need the ABS brake system. The car will operate fine with the brake system as is. I would be concerned if the problem with the ABS sys. caused other problems with the car because I didn't get the dealer to repair. Any thoughts or comments Please. I am female, this is my son's car and have been taken advantage of on other occasions so I am very leary about anyone doing repairs. Thanks Elizabeth

In general most cars that display the ABS light will have regular braking action and the ABS is OFF. If you really don't like anything about the feel of brakes or any concerns get it fixed! You may be pleasantly surprised that it is just dirt in a sensor and not real expensive. Please don't let a little money be in the way of causing an accident!!!! Be safe,

I read your response to the previous question regarding the ABS. I also have an Integra that has started flashing the ABS light intermittently. When it comes on the radio begins to turn off and the headlights dim. A split second later everything comes on again. I am worried there is an electrical short somewhere. Am I off base with this assumption? Can I fix this myself or do I need to take it to a dealer?

Don't get me wrong I love this site but you could be dealing with a real safety issue so seek out some pro help - there are non dealers that specialize in "Things Electrical" and may be a good bet for a fix. Trust me - accidents cost more than repairs! Do the right thing, ----Come back and tell us what fixed it but DO IT NOW!

Tom rights sometimes the time you spend trying to fix something like this in addition to the details of the problem, you would just be better off going to a professional that does brakes "everyday". Some times we try and save money on things that we shouldn't. But its alsways great to get advice on things such as this problem. Good luck.

Appreciate the kind words. I will steadfastly suggest folks get help with a potential safety issue. I've had customers that I wouldn't let drive home in their own car! Hey these sites are awesome but can't replace the real touch and feel of a serious problem, Be well,

The default setting should be regular brakes. On a public site I have to suggest you get this fixed - I don't know how to help you on line with this so seek pro help. Be safe,

It is your battery terminals. Clean them with a baterry terminal brush. This will fix your problem and charge the battery properly. If that does not work, have a local Auto Zone or Advance Auto do a charging system check. It's free.

Default with light on should be regular braking action. If there is a mechanical problem that can affect normal braking action that must be tended to at once! ABS is expensive and IMO the dumbest thing put it vehicles. They can fail and cause an accident! Check with local laws and with advice on this specific car if it can be disabled if YOU want and save the expense and have normal, safe braking abilities. Check locally and do what is right for you, T
