My 1997 Subaru Legacy usually starts without touching the gas pedal. Yesterday, for the first time, I had to try twice then it stayed running fine. Today it would not start without pressing the gas pedal and will not stay running when I take my foot off the gas pedal. Any suggestions?

Soulds like it is in the idle speed. Possibly the solenoid that controls the idle or maybe a partially plugged fuel filter.
