2002
Wolswagen Golf GLS
2.0 L 115 CV
Front wheel

I need some advice on this vehicle whether I should keep it or sell it. The vehicle needs some repairs, the main thing to be repair is is the gear box and timing belt, some minor repairs like a broken head light and burned pulley belt. The repair is about to 2000 $ , if I was to sell a vehicle in good running condition it would get me 3,500 $. What shoould I do , is it worh to invest all that money , what most bothers me is what happens if I fix it and I run into another problem being that the car is already aging, should I be better investing the 2k on a newer car. Anybodys input is welcome ...thank you much

A car is not an investment.

The question is whether you are going to keep the car or get a new one.
If you are going to get a new one then get what you can for this car in it's present shape and put that towards the new ride.
At best you would just get back the money you put into fixing it. Most of the time you won't even get back what you put in it for repairs. It would make no sense spending $2000 on repairs to a car worth $1500 in it's present condition only to be able to now sell it for $2800.

I will add there are some people out there who would do this but it's not for money, it just they wouldn't sell a car to someone else with known problems. I applaud them for that, they almost always don't get their money back but that's what it takes for them to sleep at night. They are very rare. Personally I just adjust the price accordingly make them aware of any major problems and let them decide if they want to take the project on.....
