salvage title vehicle, Minnesota

I am confused as to if it is possible to buy a salvage title vehicle and drive it with the salvage title in MN?
I have heard many different things but am not able to get a clear answer. The dmv has not helped at all (surprise i know).
anyway, the vehicle has only cosmetic damage (left rear quarter panel) and not main structural damage...what would it take to get this baby road-worthy??

We have no idea what it would take to make it road worthy. You should have a repair shop check it out, before you buy it, to see what other hidden problems it has and what it would take to make it road worthy.

Ha! DMV or here (MA) RMV same thing - what a joke and not funny. Can't possibly speak for each state as things can change by the nanosecond and even their web sites are near useless.
OK- Since this friken state is the most impossible about like CA for vehicles you certainly can fix and use a "Salvage" vehicle. But! You must make it all legal again no matter what it takes. Salvage here generally means the vehicle has damage that is more $$ than the value of it if not damaged. Doesn't take much if a bit older. Here we title vehicles and it would forever be marked a "salvage" vehicle on the title if you sold it, it would stick.
Can only speak for here but bet most places. You can have harmless dents, dings, lousy paint. If damage makes sharp edges that someone could walk by and be hurt that doesn't fly.
Lighting, wipers, tires, front end parts, safety everything must be operational. That's pretty primal really. Even I don't want unsafe vehicles out there that could harm me. Who would?
I see no reason you can't make your vehicle safe to use legally. You may have to get a new "title" if that's what MN does to state it's fixed and perhaps a new VIN# and some hassle. Here - Absolutely body shops near kill to find a rear end wreck, cut it in half and properly put a whole new (used) rear on it and it's good to go but has the new VIN and title shows it is salvaged. Some done well for real are just fine.
Back - If you just fixed this yourself or probably had insurance involved you will have the hurdles to jump to get it road legal. Beware of what might look like just cosmetic damage that the overall vehicle is in fact straight which can be checked by the high end body shops. If not anything can be fixed but get an idea of the costs so you don't lose your shirt getting this road ready again.
I know it's a hassle but do the real phone calls or talk to a body shop. DMV or RMV here is hopeless to call. Near break a finger hitting press this or that to get to someone who doesn't know jack and start all over. Hopeless and bet it's common in many states,

Has this just been repaired and not registered yet, or has it been registered and you are changing over to a MN title? If the former, you should just need to have it inspected by the DMV so they can determine it has been put back together with all required safety gear. If its the latter, you just transfer the title. The salvage brand will remain on your title forever, which will devalue the car quite a bit, but the rust its going to get in MN is going to do that for you anyhow.
