my check engine light came on,i took it to autozone,it read secondary air system malfunction
code po410,can someone tell me were to start looking to fix this,i need a sticker soon,thanks
it,s a 2000 chevy s10,87,000 miles on it,4.3 motor

That code is for the secondary air injection system. It pumps air into the exhaust on start up to keep emissions low in initial startup when there is more fuel in the engine causing the exhaust to run rich. Usual causes are air in air pump, solenoid malfunction, or loss of power to pump solenoid. Pinched, loose, cracked, or broken hoses can also cause this code.

Note for Roger: The fix and resetting of the CEL will still prevent a PASS on emissions check if done by your state's computer system as it takes a period of time and or miles to read OK after the fix. Perhaps a week or a couple hundred miles - not sure exactly on that but about that. Here if you need the inspection you could get an "R" , colored black sticker which is perfectly legal for 30 days with a free retest within that time. A red "R" is not to driven on public roads. Don't know your local way it is done of course,

I just delt with the same problem. No driveability issues just the annoying light. If you follow the hose from the secondary air pump you will find a hose that leads to the exhaust. There is a valve connected to it called the secondary air check valve (dealer part) It gets gummed up after about 4 yrs. They were about $40 each. easy fix but be careful taking them off. going to need two wrenches. I pulled the whole thing off and did it at my bench. You'll see what I mean when you look at it.

I just had this code come on, on my 01 S-10 4 cyl. Where do I find the pump located?

The pump is located behind the bumper (so to speak) on the passenger side. Pump is a common failure. Also when the pump fails the 40amp fuse that goes to it will blow. It is located on the inner fender wall. You will have to remove the battery to access it. There are also some relays in there along with a couple of fuses. Good Luck
