hello i have a general question some of you may be able to answer, i have an old truck im working on. 1953 ford, i do not have a title for it and i would like to try and figure out how to get one for it, i know every state is diffrnt but i just wanna get an idea what im gonna have to go through cause i have no clue, im in Tn. im sure it hasn't had tags on it in a couple decades possibly its whole life, we are way out in the country i couldn't imagine what it was like in the 50's not many people out here, we don't even need to have our cars inspected or emissions tested

Not sure about Tennessee, but one state north, you can apply for lost title with the VIN. Might take a lot of trips to your Motor Vehicle Department to finally get it.

Most states don't title cars that old and if they do it would be the first title which you should be able to get easily with proof of purchase.

Here's a cool non government site for info on how to do stuff with all kinds of Registry and Motor vehicle stuff..........

http://www.dmv.org/

Everything varies state to state. Just went thru registering a car and it's all different except you leave broke!
