how long does the book say that it should take to change a fuel pump. i am having it done by a licensed mechanic and i do not want to be overcharged as i know if it says 4 hours and they take 5 hours they can only charge me for 4 hours.

Just out of curiosity, if he does it in 3 hrs, how much should you pay?

Charging by shops varies. If a tech has extensive tools the know how and can beat the time rate of the book then can charge the time rate listed. If over the time they lose if they do it that way. Never used the time est. books myelf as if oder one rusted propblem can take tons of time to deal with..........
