bought a car with no mot Sign In

I bought a car last month only to find out the cars mot had ran out 6 weeks before I bought it . They told me it had 12 months mot . then I had to pay a garage to fix a corroded exhaust as the 3 month warranty did not cover this . is this wrong for a seller to sell a car with no mot? they also didn't tell me the rear windows washer did not work or light bulb was missing from rear registration plate . When I complained that it had no mot they told me there and then to take the car to the garage and that they would mot the car straight away .my question is should they refund me what I payed out for the corroded exhaust bracket and should I report them to trading standards

Same - no universal MOT type thing even state by state here but get the idea. My take is it was up to YOU to verify it BEFORE you made a purchase not now.
Other than being lied to if so how to you know how long a light bulb or rusted exhaust is going to last? If you checked the car pre-purchase and rear washer worked it's just bad luck and if you didn't check it's your fault IMO or if mandatory to have that feature up to you to fix or not if not required,
