What is the best website to figure out what your old vehicle is worth today? I am looking at a 2011 dodge charger RT...not my car but a friend of mine asked me bc she does not have internet access. Thanks...you can even look the info. up and tell me if you don't mind...that would be great! What is the difference between trade in value if you were going to trade in old car and buy a new car versus selling your used car to a third party individual? For example, suppose my car's trade in value is 20K. If were were to sell it to an individual, should I expect to get 20K for the car. Thank you. The car has leather seats and 50959 miles on it.

Kelly Blue book and NADA. Both are good guides for establishing a price point. Also check places like craigslist, autotrader, ebay motors to get a good idea of a price point too.

You usually get more money selling it privately than trading it in if your willing to take the time in doing private advertising of your vehicle and the vehicle isn't a piece of junk. Dealers are going try to buy your vehicle for wholesale prices because they want to make a profit by reselling it as used or selling it auction. If they do offer you what you think is a great trade in value, they are usually tacking on more for the price of the new vehicle. They know how to play the game really well.

This is tough to know with any certainty but the newer the closer you can get. Trick with a trade in value is ask for the price with or without a trade and you know what you are being offered which is surprisingly less than you thought.

Private sales frequently get the best price. You really need to know exact condition and history to get close. Any accident history ruins values book value guesses or not IMO. They are guesses.

I'm not convinced once used that much is more than what a willing seller and willing buyer agree on but for the real world we need some guess/appraisal. If important enough pay for an appraisal as if the car was totaled or stolen and you'd get some hard #s!
