The best car for my money? Sign In

Hello! Im looking for some help with purchasing a new vehicle. I am currently a college student who commutes about 40 miles daily. Ive saved up some money from work and I am looking for a car priced around $2000-$3000. So I guess what I am asking is for the names of some cars that first of all get good gas milage, are good for commmuting, and will be in the best shape for my money. P.S. The smaller the better! Thanks in advance!

IMO - seems like that's enough money but still hard to find nice used cars for those bucks. Again IMO aim for plain Jane popular cars most likely private sales can get the most bang for the buck. Search out all the ads you can. Condition and prior care + accident free means a lot.

Pay the bucks and have the car fully checked out professionally when you find something that looks good. YOU choose the shop for the check out pre-purchase! Rule out high miles, rusted cars, salvage titled cars and cars with much more than simple dents and minor body work done as best you can. Older cars with known care can be a great bargain. Wrong car needing too much can out cost the price of the car fast. Anything can happen but you can narrow the odds,
