Outsourceing of USA brand cars Sign In

I heard some Chevvies are made by various foreign firms. Can someone tell me which brands of cars are made by manufacturers for "nameplates" of others.
Thank You. Ed.

Re: Outsourceing of USA brand cars Sign In

What we used to call the BIG three have outsourced whole cars or many parts for decades now.

Examples that I know of and there are tons more:

Geo is a Suzuki

Escorts were and probably still are Mazdas!!

Ford sold a van called Villager that was 100% a Nissan!!

Truth is you can't get a car from any one maker and if you want to be loyal to a country you can't anymore. There are tons of Toyotas made in the USA with parts made here also.

The last company was AMC that desperately tried to keep a car made and built just in the US but they failed.

It's crazy but if you want your purchase of about anything dedicated to a country of your choice I don't think you can anymore.

Do the best you can, T

Toyota, makes a great car with several assembly plants in the US. Honda has a few plants as well.

Goes to Show you that when you buy a car your Really buying the Company...

Toyota has really been serious about plants in the US. I know others do too. It isn't because they or any other company loves us it's because somewhere in the mix it's more efficient to build them here. Sure saves on the down time of transporting cars too.

Undocumented by me but I heard one or more Asian car makers finish assembly things on their cars while enroute in collosal ships. Minimizes down time!

It's America's fault for ignoring some things in their cars. Think------- how many so called American cars are made for export as right hand drive?? A lot of these countries would love to own some of the American cars but really don't want to put up with the left hand drive just as I wouldn't really like a right hand drive, T
