I want to start a car washing service in Boston, MA. When someone posts an online order through my website, one of my washers will go to the customer's home at night, on the specified date, and wash the car. When the customer wakes up, she will find her car washed. I am confused about the pricing. I am afraid a high price will de-motivate potential customers, and a low price will generate too little revenue. Do you think $22 for such a wash service is reasonable, low or high? The quality of the wash is a standard, normal car wash. I would appreciate any suggestions/feedback.

Washing cars in the middle of the night? How are you going to see what your washing? Have you sat down and figured out how much it will cost you in overhead and supplies, so you don't cut your own throat? What about a water source and lighting? Have you talked to the state to find out what you need to start your own business and the regulations for disposing of waste water (if any). Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

thank you for your thoughtful response. I have tried to wash cars at night and got sufficient light from a headlamp in combination with a spot light. I have calculated on the over head etc. and that is why I end up at $22. do you think it's too much? reasonable? or to cheap? I will not use water, there is a spray on the market that losen the dirt/grime and lift it up from the paint. all the residues will be collected in a microfiber towel and washed in the laundry machine so it will not go down the storm drains. as far as I can see there will not be any problems with any regulations.

Are there any other businesses around your area or even state that do mobile car washing? Maybe you could call one of them and pretend you are a customer and would like a quote on a wash. That might give you a price figure to play with. Looking at one mobile detailer in your area using google...around $20 sounds about right. You can drive thru local to BeanTown a Scrub-a-Dub for about $8 bucks so your plan may be in trouble, Tom Marlborough, MA and MA lifelong resident................. (Should have expounded in that detailing cars you can make a buck - hard to do in Boston proper as you know)
