I Need Help Sign In

Hello all. Really I would like some advice. I am not a mechanic but am somebody who is trying to buy a used car. If necessary I would be willing to pay someone to help me just by answering some questions that I have, being that I don't know much about how cars work. ( I hope this is allowed on this forum).

I want a sporty kind of car but something reliable (I was thinking Camry or maybe an Accord) that I know is well made and wont cause many problems for long time owning. I definitely want something with some room too (preferably 4 door) and not just a really fast tiny sports car, but I do want something zippy with some fast pick up.

The part I really wanna know is what cars are "good" in terms of their transmission, how the engine was built, if it burns oil easily, and these kinds of questions. Also I wanna know what cars are easy to work on, have good priced/plentiful parts.

Thanks to any one who read all this or anyone who wants to help me out. I just want some recommendations really.

I would agree that a Camry or an Accord would be the most reliable cars you could choose but I don't know where you are getting the "sports car" description from. The 2 door version is a little more sporty but these cars are not commonly described as sports cars although a great choice for reliability.

The sports car description would more accurately apply to the Toyota Supra or MR2 or the Honda Prelude or NSX.

Thank you so much for your reply! And what I meant was a "sporty" car that just has some pick up not an actual sports car. I was looking at the SE modles of Camry and the Honda Accord Sport. Just didnt know if these kinds of cars run well or not or have reliable transitions etc. But thank you!!

Yes, I would say they are 2 of the most reliable cars on the market.
Get the V6 if you want some power.

About a "sporty" amount of power? I know the Camrys better, an assortment of model years the 4cyl was oddly PLENTY* would guess same for the Accord just chance a void in them.

You'd know on a test drive if OK with you as Hammer said these are 2 seriously great cars for what they are.

Idea? If you want depending on your wallet check out some neat striping, some on line maybe but would have an auto body install it so no mistakes making it even.

It's not my thing but hear you can get stuff that you can remove without leaving damage?

Smile > I think both Hammer and I lived and owned stuff with HP that would tow a battleship and light tires on fire then years of "Malaise" I'll put it where nothing got out of its own way in comparison.

It's pointless where I am also an opinion. Any engine offered in either of those will be plenty I wouldn't look at insane powered cars as you can expect they've been beat would rule those out!
