When I saw this headline I couldn't help from laughing. I mean I can kind of get why they are doing it and everything, but it sounds (no pun intended) a bit ridiculous. I mean seriously go up to someone on the street and say "Hey the government thinks my prius is too quiet so they are trying to pass a law to make it louder." Id be surprised if they don't laugh. Actually now that I think about it, the video and article quoted young children and the elderly and reasons why we should put noise makers on these cars, but what about deaf people? You could have a freaking jet aircraft taking off down your street and they'd still never hear it coming.
I'm still not opposed to the idea, but I tend to have a problem with using children and the elderly as an excuse. What was the first rule you were taught as a child when it came to streets and cars? "Look both ways before crossing the street" not "listen for a car and then run out blindly if you don't hear one."
