Back up lights

I have a 1992 Lincoln Town car. The back up lights quit working. They flash when I shift from park to reverse but then when I get it in reverse the lights go out. Does anyone out there know what the problem might be?

If they come on and then go out, the shift linkage is probably just a little out of adjustment.
Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
