I have a neighbor that has an 84 chev pu. body is bad, bed rusted out, However he did put in a new 350. I am interested in the rolling chassis only. I want to put my 49 international body on it. He is asking 1500.00 I think he would take 1000.00. What do you think! Thanks

Chevrolet would be the easiest to play with. If fussy I'd go for a 1972 Chev small block or older - I forget what year the 350 started under the exact cubic inches. If the only thing in it that's any good is the engine you could do better than that. Make sure the frame is ok,

Re: 84 pu price Sign In

Thanks for the reply Tom, I have a chev 302 chev engine Hopped up from a race boat that the guy rebuilt and then decided to get out of the expensive week end hobby. My concern is that I dont know how to do welding or the such. I want an IFS for the truck, and power brakes and all but am new to the building biz. My son says I could use the whole drive train. Input would help lots, Thanks, Tom F Cool

The 84 should be good overall. The automatic 700R if you want auto is a great trans. Parts will be available forever for this which helps. For whole brand new engines check out the marine ones if you get a chance. The big marine companies all use like a 1972 Chev 350 for a standard 260 HP which can be played around with and the chief difference is rust proof parts where they can. They don't cost all that much whole and new!

Good luck with the project,

T
