I'm about to replace my 2002 VW Passat Wagon. It's a 6 cylinder, 4Motion model. I love the ride; but problems are becoming more and more frequent. The new wagon models I see (Audi, in particular) come in 4 cylinders, although the torque/horsepower figures look very good (although I'm not an expert on that, for sure). So I'm wondering if I go down to 4 cylinders, will I experience a noticeable decline in the power and smoothness of the ride; or will the increase in torque/horsepower, etc. make up for it? Thanks

It really depends on which one you decide to buy. As long as you stay with close to the same size class you'll probably like the ride and some of the new 4 cylinders really have a lot of power. I guess it really depends on how hard you were pushing your old car....

The best thing I could recommend is when you narrow it down to 1 or 2 models if possible, try to rent that one for a day or 2 and drive it........ You really can't tell anything on a 10 to 20 minute test drive. If you can't find the model to rent I would try to work something out with the dealer to get some extended time in one........ I'm assuming you are talking about buying new.................
