2008 Chevy Silverado CD Player will not play discs

Reposting this, as my last one appears to have been "removed" somehow..........
I have a 2008 Silverado LT with the Navigation system, ~ 70,000 kms on it
The CD player in the Nav/stereo system will no longer play discs. Simply displys "discs error" message, and produces no sound.
Was thinking of just replacing it with an aftermarket stereo, but would actually prefer to leave things stock. Any ideas about what I can check for to remedy this?
Ran a cleaning disc, to no avail.

Your post wasn't removed. It was moved to the stereo category where it should have been in the first place.
