Hey guys,
My mother in law has a 1994 Chevy C1500 with 205,000 miles on the 350 v8 motor. I was wondering if it wasn't too late for a synthetic motor oil? The owners manual calls for 5w30 oil.

Does it smoke, use lots of oil, or leak? If not, shouldn't hurt anything.

So it's perfectly fine to run full synthetic oil in an engine with that many miles?

Second the opinion of DS above fully. Synthetic, proper viscosity is superior oil just costs more up front. Read the label, it should say it meets or exceeds all specs for the viscosity for vehicles tons newer than this.

From the get go ages ago actually synthetics were required to be compatible with conventional oils and are. Many good reasons to use it #1 being it's tolerance to temperature extremes and is plain better at lubrication. Watch if you do how much faster your oil pressure builds up to normal from a cold start or warm start vs what it does now,
