Pumping air for acceleration? Login - Sign Up

My friend installed a thing he called "compressor". He said the compressor helps pump air into the engine, hence increasing the acceleration/speed of the car.

Is this true? How does it work exactly?

Are there any side effects of using this? I mean if the engine is performing beyond what it is initially made for, wouldnt the long term effects be bad? We both maintain 130-140 km/h for an hour twice a day. I'm afraid putting this thing into the car, while boosting the car's performance, will be bad in the long run.

Lisa; Are you referring to a super-charger? What year, make, model, engine size are we talking about. But, off the top of my head, not worth the expense unless you are really into performance.

Hey Loren. This same user name has posted from India and Pakistan. Not sure they are looking for any help, or just wanting to post the link Tomm has removed. I went ahead and deleted about 5 of them early today.

It's not YOU Loren. We are dealing with a "free" site and subject to infection for free advertising. Can't help the ads. The ones that show are paid for. The passers by are just hobo's jumping on a good thing. I'm somewhat an IT idiot but there's big bucks in exposure and links. SOME GET PAID FOR HOW MUCH EXPOSURE! We - that meaning CarJunky is a target and by being heavily moderated (thanks to several of you) we are running a site with fewer automatic limits so it takes a personal touch to keep it clean.

For the while is takes human judgment - I already bailed out and left it up to Kitty!

She still ( poor creature just watching me/us work away at this for hours is just amused as a cat will be)

She can handle it so far. Just hang in there.
