SUMMARY: This past August a new, and I hope, long lasting automotive event burst onto the South East Michigan classic, vintage and muscle car show scene – The Detroit Festival of Speed and Style! This was the inaugural showing of the event and it was held on Sunday August 25th at Campus Martius and the adjacent Cadillac Square. This was not only a new event on the scene but a new idea and concept also. This event was built on the success of the 2003 – 2005 Concours d’Elegance at Cranbrook, which was founded by Marvin Thomas Jr. The festival presents classic cars in an urban setting, with the opportunity of seeing moving parades and demonstrations.
