Ford is in the middle of a huge financial crisis! You would have to be insane to make Ford sound like it were the greatest auto manufacturer in the world at the moment.
I would like to know the sources you have used to find out the profits you were talking about when in fact Ford themselves saw profits for the first time in over 2 years at the end of March '08 and expect losses again until the end of 2009.
The only reason they actually showed profits for the first time in over 2 years is because they sold their Land Rover and Jaguar brands.
As for the 245,000 work force, that will be cut down considerably with Ford announcing that they expect to cut down white collar jobs by up to 15% by the end of August '08.
I can't believe how good this article makes Ford sound. It was as if it were written by their number 1 Fan.
Ford is in trouble, so are GM and Chysler. They failed to adapt quickly to changing consumer demand with more fuel efficient vehicles. The Japanese on the other hand (Toyota, Honda) are showing profits while ford and GM continue to show losses.
This article gives a false impression of a struggling auto-maker. I am sorry to say this, but Henry Ford would not be proud of the way things are right now and is probably rolling in his grave with the way things are going!
Ford needs to make some careful decisions and tread carefully in the near future if it is to be profitable and live up to the name that Henry Ford built!
