SUMMARY: With the information we have today about global-warming and the finite nature of gasoline supplies, we all want to become more environment-friendly, and do away with the need for gasoline. We need the energy security of having our own source of fuel. We know our vehicles and the emissions from them are not good for the environment and hybrid cars are one way we can help.

 I'm continually amazed at how obsolete the information is in published articles such as this one.
The fear of the battery not being ready is foolish and the lifespan is not the 100,000 miles quoted - it was never expressed in terms of mileage, only time.
GM wanted 10 years, but will begetting better than that - 19 years for the A123 Systems and more than 20 for the LG Chem battery. And the batteries are
finished. They will be handed over to GM next month to begiin testing. There is notyhing to prevent a 2010 launch, which GM Europe head said last week.
