Looking for the cheapest insurance for a 17 year old Sign In

Giving my son a car as a Christmas present

I'm looking to buy some quality, full coverage insurance that also won't break the bank.

I'll be giving him a 2008 Toyota Camry. He's a 17 year old high school student with good grades and no trouble with the law or anything like that.

4autoinsurancequote.com quoted me at $57/month. are they legit?

Any other suggestions?

May be all local or free market. Driver's Ed course passed can help with new/young drivers. Like anything, shop around and make sure liability to others is well covered.

Good luck,

Get as may quotes as you can from different insurance brokers.
A good broker will approach insurance companies and work to get you the best rates.
But 17 year old male, insurance and inexpensive just don't mix; so be ready.
Back when my kids were that age, it cost us something like $600.00 for my daughter for the year.
My son was over $1500.00.
Both kids took driver's Ed, have comparable grades and never got into any trouble.
I asked why and they told me that the national stats suggest that young male drivers are much more aggressive drivers and cause more accidents.
My daughter now is 29 and has had two accidents; my son 27 and has never been in an accident; but he is still paying more then her?
A very unfair mind set; but the insurance companies have been getting away with this for years.
Young drivers should start out equal; if they screw up then nail them to the wall.

The vehicle has a lot to do with it too. My insurance went up nearly $400 just by transferring from a Grand Cherokee to a Buick Rendezvous, no coverage for the vehicle itself involved. They just said the Buick has a worse history than the Jeep.
