Hello one and all:
What was original paint color of the filler plate from front grill to bumper on a 1964 Chev. Impala 2dr hdtp that was built in Canada ? (was it the body color of the car or a silver grey?)
Looking forward to hearing from anyone. Thank you

It's a guess but I'll say it's the color of the car. Perhaps a trim option was available or changes with what orig color was used might matter?? Here an example that shows it but doesn't prove anything either,

Thanks for the info Tom, but it is the color of the filler panel under the hood between the grill and the rad. that I would like to know.
Nice car by the way is it yours ?

No it's not mine. I'm cheating and just using "Google Images" to see what's already out there to get an idea and just a look refreshes what's left of the brain cells. Here's some more if they help,

Above might be a model car!

Check that one out! Even has one OE spring/leaded battery clamp. Note the A/C - plain clamps and hoses, a sight glass on receiver/drier. Not sure it's OE at all under there for everything paint wise,

Even by this resto I'm not sure the rad support would have been black as shown or body color when new??

Ps: One more - different car......

Thanks for all your pictures, appreciate your reply, but just didn't really show what I needed to know, have come to the conclusion from other investigations it is silver grey.
I am now in the process of putting things together but can't remember just where the horn is installed,is it installed on the outside of the radiator support or actually in the engine compartment facing the engine ? anyone have answers?

Hello, the color of the filler panel is silver gray. When painted this way it looks much nicer... Solid! Many paint this the color of the car which makes the grill look like its floating. Chevrolet designers knew what they were doing when they painted it silver gray. By the way the Azure Aqua 1964 Impala is mine. I was searching 64 Impala and noticed my car. If you want to see more of it let me know.
