1969 Mustang Tilt Swing away steering Sign In

My Friend just purchased a Tilt Swing away steering column from Ebay for his 1969 Mustang fast back project he is currently working on.
He asked me to find a place that could evaluate it and rebuild it if necessary. Does any one out there in the Classic Mustang world know of a place that could perform this task?

I could be all wrong but I think starting in 67 only "Tilt Away" was available in Mustang/Cougar. The "Swing Away" ended in 1966 (long time ago - forgive me) and mostly in T-Birds.

Good guess: Ford and others did do rare options not even listed. Just make sure ALL the parts involved are there before even looking for installation help - my guess is that's it's not hard but if it really swings you need the panels that for allow that on dash parts,

You are correct on your posting, But also the 69/70 Shelby Mustangs had that option added to them also and my friend is going for the Shelby look. I am restoring a 67 coupe Mustang and giving him a hand tring to find a place that will evaluate it and restore it as necessary. I haven't heard of any place that does this type of work that is why i am turning to Car Junkies like your self.. Thanks for all the help in advance..

I misread your thread, The 63/64 T-Bird used them and starting in and around 67 the Cougar XR7 used them as well as the Shelby Mustangs in 69/70
(could be off in my years but close enough for Goverment work) LOL

I'm only partially qualified to comment too far with this. Best I recall is dashboards, the trim, fake wood style and so forth changed by the year so if you swap from another year it might be able to work but trim parts may be all wrong.

There are Mustang sites just for them - parts and all. To find help local to you try a car club meet and ask around. Wrong time of year where I live but the classic meets go on somewhere around me all Summer,
