1951 Ford 2dr Sedan Deluxe 302 Automatic motor. Just purchased it. Odometer is going backward. Speedometer isn't working either. And so the fun begins. Any help is very much appreciated! Thanks.

That's a new one for me?? The car is a bit before my time but probably uses a cable like they did for ions to trans. From that end you should be able to put a cordless drill carefully on the cable and try forward and revers while someone watches the dash speedo.

If in fact the trans is spinning the cable the wrong way and that's the only issue than you may need some help from a trans shop to figure out the best approach for that.

I'm just throwing out ideas. Know that automotive based marine engines when twins usually make one counter rotating to the other and some use cables all the way to the helm so there must be some reverse, asymmetrically opposite gear to accomplish that??
