Never liked them, thought about adding an extra socket and bulb inside the rear lenses, but never got around to it. My car was much newer than yours. A '40 Ford. Had small 'park' lamps, just above the headlamps, but no room there for another socket/bulb. I was more concerned with safety than 'looks'.
