What scan tool for 2012 cars

I need some advice re scan tools for 2012 cars and trucks.I bought a OTC genisys 3.0 scan tool awhile back it goes up too 2008 now.Can this be used on new cars and trucks.If not what is a good scan tool to purchase for 2012 cars ? Thanks

Although the Genisys would not have been my first choice that machine is update-able and can be brought current. You can also use OBD2 generic to get into most anything built after 95. Snap-on and Launch make some nice stuff but it sounds like you have already made a commitment.
