I have a 2000 honda civic and have been having problems with my transmission. I was going to get a flush but upon researching, I found out there is a TSB for my issue (TSB 00-012). My VIN doesn't fall within the range. After calling Honda, they told me that my vehicle has been totalled (and probably chopped back together). Is there anything I can do because this repair is costly. Thanks guys, I hope you can help me out!

Hello. A TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin with new information for the trechnician to aid in the repair. A TSB is not a recall. If you have a TSB checked on your car, it is customer pay. People always want to think they are a recall. Recalls and Owner Notification are the only ways I know of that a manufacturer will pay for the repair. So remember that a TSB is information to aid the repair, and recall i9s free repair. Sorry.

Thank you for the information. I was not aware of that. That's slightly disgusting, that there are known issues with all these automobiles that are the owner's problem. Is there a VIN tag on the engine anywhere so I can see if my engine is one of the affected units?

Not really sure on the Honda. But on domestics, there is an engine calibration number they ususlly go by, along with the VIN. Sorry that there is not any better news for you.
